Hike and Seal Watch: Looking for something to do with the kids today while they're on school vacation? RI DEM is hosting several free events this week, including today's Guided Hikes to explore beaver dams and identify tree species. The hikes will take place at Pulaski Memorial Recreation Center in Glocester and leave on the hour at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Hikers are encouraged to dress appropriately as the area can be extremely cold in the winter wind.Click here for more info on this week's events.
RI Red Sox Scholarship: Attention high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited two/ four year college or trade school! One CHS senior WILL be chosen for this prestigious award. Seniors that maintain a "B" average, completed community service, and demonstrate eligibility for financial aid should apply by the March 1 deadline. Well Owner Workshop: On Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., the RI Dept. of Health and URI will host a free workshop at Loutitt Library (274 Victory Hwy., West Greenwich) for private well owners. During the workshop, those in attendance will learn about regular testing, maintenance and good housekeeping practices for their wells. This is a free program, but pre-registration is required and can be made by calling 874-4918.
