Coventry resident, Linda Crotta Brennan, will be launching her latest book, When Rivers Burned: The Earth Day Story on Sunday, April 21 from 1-4 p.m. at Audubon Society of Rhode Island Environmental Education Center, located at 1401 Hope Street in Bristol, RI.

Ms. Brennan will do a presentation about her research and writing process, including how she interviewed Denis Hayes, who organized the first Earth Day. This will be followed by a question and answer session, and a book signing.

Light refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon. $1 from the purchase of each book purchased on Sunday will be donated to the Earth Day Network.

When Rivers Burned: The Earth Day Story is a book for children in grades 6 and above, published by Apprentice Shop Books. Denis Hayes, organizer of the first Earth Day, bills it as "the best brief chronology of the important historical strands in that period that I've seen."

Ms. Brennan is the award-winning author of over a dozen books for young people, including The Black Regiment of the American Revolution. She’s a contributor to the American Notable Women Series. The Rhode Island book in that series, Women of the Ocean State: 25 Rhode Island Women You Should Know will also be available at the book launch on April 21.
